HGA Committee Meeting Highlights - January 12, 2012

ARCHITECTURAL CONTROL (Ed Keller) Next meeting: Thursday, 01/19/12 at 10:00 a.m.

BUDGET AND FINANCE (Twyla Gaugenmaier) 01/09/12:  MOA (Monthly Operating Analysis) will be reviewed at a Special Budget and Finance Meeting on January 24, 10 a.m. in the HGA Board room. Audit Subcommittee will meet Monday, January 16 at 10 a.m. Insurance Subcommittee will meet Monday, May 14 at 1:30 p.m. Committee recommended that the Heather Gardens Association Board of Directors award a contract to install a new water heater in Building 224.  Next Budget and Finance meeting:  Monday, 02/13/12 at 10:00 a.m.

CIVIC AFFAIRS (Donna Dissette) 01/05/12:  RTD Updates:  Traffic will not be detoured through Heather Gardens during upcoming construction. Call-n-Ride service for Heather Gardens has been cut. Beginning around January 20, 2012, the Bus 130 route will loop through Heather Gardens using current bus benches as stops. It will run from 4:30 a.m. until 9:30 p.m. and go to Nine-Mile Station. A senior Shop-n-Ride will be offered to take Heather Gardens residents to King Soopers on Parker Rd. on Friday mornings. Access-a-Ride remains in operation.  Committee viewed a video showing 41 stop sign violations within 38 minutes at intersection of S. Heather Gardens Way and S. Vaughn Way. Committee listed concerns about lack of usable pedestrian crosswalks in Heather Gardens. A list of recommendations was made to make walking within Heather Gardens safer. Aurora Police will monitor traffic in Heather Gardens and issue citations for traffic violations. The Senior Tax Exchange Program and Homestead Act exemption for seniors were explained. Security Department Report: Security Chief Longoria reported on the number and types of calls handled by the Security Department.  He explained the procedures his officers follow on slip and fall accidents. Chief Longoria said that speed bumps are not allowed on S. Heather Gardens Way or E. Marina Dr. Next meeting: Thursday, 02/02/2012 at 10:00 a.m.

CLUBHOUSE (Larry Dávila) Next meeting: Monday, 01/23/12 at 10:00 a.m. 

COMMUNICATIONS (Ron Hileman) 01/03/12: Future Communications Committee meetings will be on the first Tuesday each month at 10:00 a.m. New residents in 2011 occupied 102 units (66% owned; 34% rented). Staff continues to make progress with improvements to the old (www.heathergardens.org) and new (www.heathergardenslifestyle.com) websites. Action on a draft uniform rentals leasing form and other real estate related issues was deferred for further study. Committee was not in favor of placing Horan and McConaty obituary page on the website. Christopherson reported on current marketing work. Additional phone lines will be added to enable tracking the source of phone inquiries. Number of visits to realtor websites through the Heather Gardens website was reported. HEATHER GARDENS FOUNDATION (Mavis Richardson) 12/14/2011: Balance as of 12/14/2011 was $298,628. Revenue to date for Veterans Memorial are $5,440. Further discussion of a glass kiln is tabled until space is found for this kiln. Foundation Committee denied requests: 1) from the Quilting Class for supplies, and 2) a request for new billiards table.  Foundation Committee has not authorized funds to buy electric golf carts and will ask the Heather Gardens Metropolitan District Board why Heather 'n Yon stated that $101,000 of Foundation funds would be used for carts.
